MountainFilm on Tour Hilton Head

The Island Academy of Hilton Head is thrilled to be bringing Mountainfilm on Tour  to our community for the sixth year in a row. Mountainfilm on Tour Hilton Head provides a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and inspiring documentary films curated from the  Telluride Mountainfilm  Festival held every year in Telluride, Colorado.

This year Mountainfilm on Tour Hilton Head will be held at Coligny Theatre on February 9th with shows at 4:30pm and 7pm EST. The matinee showing features “family friendly” films that can be enjoyed by all ages. The evening event includes hor d’oeuvres and access to a silent auction featuring local businesses. All shows explore themes connected to Mountainfilm’s mission: to use the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.

Join us for an afternoon and/or evening of inspiring and captivating films handpicked for this area.

Mountainfilm on Tour Hilton Head uses the power of film to educate and inspire audiences to create a better world. Our ultimate goal is to promote action toward positive change. One way to do this is to facilitate involvement between Mountainfilm audiences and important causes. Attend our event, become a sponsor, participate in the silent auction, volunteer, or donate.

All proceeds benefit children and education on Hilton Head Island and beyond.

Mountainfilm travels year-round and worldwide with a selection of current and best-loved films from the annual festival in Telluride. Every year, Mountainfilm selects the best short films from the festival and makes them available for hosts to select shows specific to their area. Each show is emceed by a presenter who guides the audience through the program, often sharing personal stories from interactions with the filmmaker or the film's subjects.

Mountainfilm on Tour touches the lives of over 70,000 people every year and visits more than 150 locations. It's Mountainfilm’s way of extending the reach of the annual festival and helping filmmakers’ inspiring content be seen by audiences who otherwise might never have the opportunity.

Mountainfilm on Tour's education program introduces students in K-12 public schools to essential environmental, cultural and social issues with age-appropriate film programs curated by a Mountainfilm staff member.

Films are developed by teachers and align with national standards. They can be downloaded and include filmmaker interviews, discussion questions, resources, activities and more, aimed at engaging students and instructors in dialogue and in-depth exploration of identified topics.

For middle- and high-school students, our playlists focus on compelling educational and inspirational documentary short films to get students thinking. These playlists target films that are timely, regionally relevant, or topics not commonly discussed or seen.

For younger students K-5th grade, we offer a fun, engaging playlist with light educational content, focused primarily on outstanding, entertaining short films sourced from our festival.

Your contribution supports 21st century learning and allows students an educational opportunity that may otherwise not be available to them through our endowed scholarship fund. Your generous donation makes all of this possible. Thank you in advance.
